Tilgate Park

South of Tilgate in South-East Crawley, there is a sizable recreational area called Tilgate Park. It is the biggest and busiest park in the vicinity.
The park and surrounding territories, which included the present-day Furnace Green, Three Bridges, a portion of Southgate, and Tilgate Forest, were formerly a 2,185-acre (8.84 km2) portion of the ancient Worth Forest. They were also a part of the broader Tilgate Estate.

Despite the fact that the majority of the park's visitor activities is concentrated around Tilgate Lake and the nearby grounds of a former country home, a sizable portion of the park was once silvicultural forest. Tilgate Forest, a Local Nature Reserve, is presently in charge of managing this. The Tilgate Nature Centre, which offers captive breeding of various vulnerable and endangered animal species and variations, is also located within the park.
